Orthopedic
Sports Medicine
[ send
me this paper ]
A 16 page paper discussing the state of evolution of
orthopedic sports medicine. It often carries the remnant of
the skepticism of years past, when those involved just
seemed not to fit anywhere. The physicians involved in
orthopedic sports medicine often were looked on as M.D.s
that simply couldn't compete in the world of 'real'
medicine, and the lay people involved as trainers and
support personnel to the performing athletes were regarded
as would-be athletes with the same disabilities. But times
are changing. Orthopedic sports medical practitioners are
being viewed as competent as any other M.D. in any other
specialty, and sound research is contributing to the overall
well of knowledge regarding injury, treatment options and
patient outcomes. Bibliography lists 12 sources.

Physical
Therapy: Health Trends
[ send
me this paper ]
8 pages in length. Within the world of physical wellness,
there are two very different approaches to the same goal:
holistic and allopathic. The two vastly diverse programs
offered around the world provide similar benefits; however,
it is the road taken to achieve these benefits that greatly
differ. Allopathic medicine is geared more toward the
traditional, pharmaceutical therapy that has sustained
throughout the centuries. Holistic medicine, on the other
hand, utilizes a whole body, noninvasive approach to aid in
the body's recuperation. Granted, both entities have their
specific place within the innerworkings of overall wellness,
yet their diversity maintains them as separate practices.
The writer discusses that current trends, however, are
showing a voluntary merging of the two applications to work
toward a comprehensive approach to physical therapy.
Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Performance

physical education programming and provides an overview of
the commonly applied motivational models. This study also
provides some suggestions and recommendations for educators,
and links motivation to performance in an effective
discussion about competitive performance in team sports

Mandatory
Drug Testing For High School Athletes
[ send
me this paper ]
A 9 page paper arguing that mandatory drug testing should be
enforced and implemented. While it may seem as though this
is an issue which consists of an invasion of personal
issues, in light of today’s competitive world, there are
many instances where drug use is a serious concern in high
school athletics, harming those that are not involved with
drug enhancers. Unfortunately we live in a world where we
cannot rely on the integrity of individuals and their own
inherent desire to achieve and succeed on their own
resources. While the issue of drug testing may involve the
use of mind-altering, illegal drugs, the main focus is on
that of the use of drugs such as steroids used for enhancing
performance in sports. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
